There is probably no better treat (nor trick) with which to celebrate Halloween than a free Saturday matinee of the original 1984 “Ghostbusters”. Even if you’ve seen it before and have seen either or both of the later Ghostbusters films, why deny yourself the fun of seeing Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Rick Moranis, and Sigourney Weaver romping to that wonderful title song from Ray Parker Jr.? Special effects may not have been as technically thrilling in 1984, but this movie has razor sharp wit and mass appeal for people of all ages. A pop-culture phenomenon and free popcorn, too? Who ya gonna call?

After losing their academic posts at a prestigious university, a team of parapsychologists goes into business as proton-pack-toting “ghostbusters” who exterminate ghouls, hobgoblins and supernatural pests of all stripes. An ad campaign pays off when a knockout cellist hires the squad to purge her swanky digs of demons that appear to be living in her refrigerator.
