GUEST SPEAKER: Dr. Jeffrey Wells, Vice President of Boreal Conservation for the National Audubon Society. THE MESSENGER is an artful investigation into the causes of songbird mass depletion and the people working to turn the tide. This visually thrilling film reveals how the issues facing birds also pose daunting implications for our planet. Dr. Wells has connections to this film and will be sharing information on the birds of Maine and beyond, the plights they face, and what can be done about it. Dr. Wells has authored or co-authored books, articles, academic publications and blogs, and is the co-author, with his wife Allison, of a popular bird and natural history column for the Boothbay Register. During his time at the Boreal Songbird Initiative, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and the National Audubon Society, Dr. Wells has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s leading bird experts and conservation biologists. He is now dedicated to understanding and protecting the land where North America’s birds are born and raised, the Boreal Forest region of Canada and Alaska To register for this event (80 guest limit), please visit https://bbrlt.org/event or contact BRLT Environmental Educator Tracey Hall at thall@bbrlt.org or call 207-633-4818. The Harbor Theater’s current policy requires guests to wear masks when not actively drinking or eating and to provide proof of vaccination.
